The tram line is vital for the movement of people in the municipality, representing the only means of public transport within the city and to the surrounding areas of the city.
The advanced wear of the running track and of the other fixed means, makes the line no longer present safety in operation, which leads to the need to modernize them to bring them to a normal operating condition, characteristic of a tram line, respectively by promoting a modern, silent constructive solution that does not require major interventions for a period of 20 years and that needs minimal repairs.
The works consist in the rehabilitation of the road system and of the tram lines on the main transport corridor in the municipality.
The works refer to the restoration:
- The road system
- Infrastructure and superstructure of tram lines, including platforms and level crossings, roads and pedestrians that cross them, correlated with the level of the road system;
- Recovering the contact network of the tram lines, ensuring the longitudinal compensation of the contact network and improving its supply system
- Ensuring the traffic lights of the intersections and pedestrian passages correlated with the tram traffic and the road traffic, with ensuring the priority of the trams when crossing the intersections.
