Sustainable development in rural communities, Southwest region

The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of human resources in five rural communities in the Southwest region, by attracting and facilitating integration into the labor market in non-agricultural activities and by education, counseling and entrepreneurial assistance of the unemployed, people in looking for a job and people employed in subsistence agriculture.

The project contributes to the sustainable development of the rural community by focusing on three axes of interest: social, economic and environmental. The implementation of the project involves the organization of seminars with topics relevant to the labor market and of interest to the target group, which also represent facilitators of the interaction between employers and potential employees. A number of 210 people are expected to participate in these seminars, of which 21 will be employed within 6 months, of which 11 will be women. A very important component of the measures involved is entrepreneurial education, which ensures the harmonious and sustainable development of the rural environment, by orienting the people from the target group towards non-agricultural fields. This fact determines the economic diversification in the Southwest Region. 180 people are estimated to participate in training sessions that include three courses: initiation in entrepreneurship, initiation in health and safety at work, personal development. Of these, 150 receive graduation certificates being selected, on clear criteria, following the business counseling stage, 30 receive grants in the form of “bonus vouchers”, through which they benefit from the establishment of a PFA, PFI or SC. This component, which targets new entrepreneurs among those in the target group, contributes to economic sustainability and the creation of new jobs in the South-West Region. The environmental component concerns sustainable consumption and production, conservation and management of natural resources, climate change and clean energy. The objectives assumed for the awareness activity regarding the need to protect the environment are met by organizing interactive seminars, after which 300 people from the target group are informed about environmental issues.

Specific objectives:

  • Increasing the level of information and awareness of over 500 people regarding the need for sustainable development of the rural community.
  • Facilitating access to employment in non-agricultural fields for 500 people by organizing an information and motivation campaign in order to search, find and keep a job.
  • Increasing the employment rate in the Southwest Region by employing 21 people from the target group.
  • Increasing employment opportunities for 500 people by promoting entrepreneurial culture and specific professional training.
  • Ensuring rural sustainability by setting up 30 new profitable businesses in non-agricultural fields.
