The general objective was to improve the quality of life in Romania reflected in the quality of environmental factors and the health of the population, as a result of investments in infrastructure imposed by the economic and social cohesion policy of the European Union to achieve the “convergence” objective.
The specific objectives were:
1. Fulfilling the commitments imposed on Romania by the Accession Treaty and implementation of the Community ACQUIS related to the environment sector;
2. Re-engineering of the central heating system in Timișoara in order to comply with environmental protection regulations on air pollutant emissions and increase efficiency in urban heat supply through technical assistance for the supervision of works to ensure a high level of quality
3. Supporting Timișoara City Hall and the district heating operator COLTERM SA in the successful implementation of the project co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.
